Hesed is an ancient word that means steadfast love or ongoing kindness. The one who practices “Hesed” is the one who goes above and beyond that which is normally required. We embody this in our approach.
At Hesed Psychological Services of Minnesota, we want to provide neuropsychological services that are above and beyond what is required. Providing services that are world class within the local community.
Both Dr. Pyykkonen and Dr. Wenzel have their origins in Minnesota and have seen the need for neuropsychological assessments and quality mental health within the rural setting of Minnesota, while at the same time providing the highest quality assessments that could be found at any renowned hospital.

A Neuropsychological Assessment is a comprehensive assessment that assesses all of the major aspects of the brain, and then will be able to extrapolate the relevant strengths and weaknesses that each person has, along with assessing the emotional state of an individual. Once contacted, an initial intake appointment will be completed to gather relevant background history and identify the presenting problem. After the initial intake appointment, if applicable insurance will need prior authorization, once approved the testing appointment will be scheduled. Depending on the person and presenting concern, approximately 8 hours of testing will occur. After completing all aspects of testing, the test data will be analyzed, and a report will be written. Then a feedback session is scheduled to review the results, with a copy of the report to be given out at the feedback session.

We are capable of testing individuals started at 6 years of age and older.

We use a variety of tests which are given in a variety of ways, some test are done with pencil and paper, on a computer, asking individuals to manipulate objects, and asking questions.

We assess for a wide variety of concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); Learning Disorders with Math/Reading/Writing; Emotional Concerns; Psychiatric Disorders; Traumatic Brain Injuries, Stroke, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis (MS); Parkinson’s Disease, various Dementias including: Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), Lewy Body Disease (LBD), and Vascular Dementia; along with other concerns.
